In one month I have been out of work, have seen 8 doctors, made 2 trips to the hospital ER, had a CT scan (with contrast), X-rays (4 times) ultrasounds (twice), and coultless bloodwork. As a result I have learned that I have inflamed facia tissue, a cyst on my kidney, diverticulosis, low potassium, and high liver enzymes. While the aforementioned may prove to be useful information, doctors don't seem to suspect that any one of those are an explanation for my most recent symptoms (light-headednes…

Throughout my quest for betterment it would appear as if nothing seems to work quite as well as a good night sleep, in terms of making life managable. Of course that's sometimes easier said than done, but so worth it if it can be done.

When pregnant and suffering from Fibromyalgia it is important to know that the Tramadol (medication used to relieve pain) is in pregnancy category C. This means that the medication may be harmful to an unborn baby, and it may also cause serious side effects in a newborn if it is given to the mother during pregnancy or labor. Note, too, that Tramadol can enter a mother's breast milk and can therefore be make harm to a nursing baby.

I wanted to share some information from a newsletter that my wife’s doctor sends out. There is a lot to read. I hope this will be helpful to you all.
My patients with fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue have much more oxidative stress than the normal person. To bring this oxidative stress under control, my patients need to add what I refer to as “enhancers” to their cellular nutrition.
Enhancer
Grape Seed Extract
Enhancers are added to this cellular nutrition to create more effective synergy and allow…

I have found lately that poetry of all things is helping me to undo some of the knots of my pain and my thinking. It doesn't come to me everyday, however once in awhile it just flows out and several poems will come at once. Especially when I am really down about something. Usually when I have been hurt by someone. Namely family. Unfortunately I must say. I guess it is just impossible for some people to handle the fact that I have all this going on healthwise and that I am NOT the person I onc…

My resolution for 2008 is to add POMEGRANATES to my diet! An ancient fruit which has been rediscovered!
Nutritional Benefits:
Pomegranates have very high content of punicalagins, a potent anti-oxidant component found to be responsible for its superior health benefits.
Amazingly, researches indicate that the capacity of anti-oxidant in this fruit is two or three times higher than that of red wine and green tea.
The level of anti-oxidant is even higher than thos…

A Letter From the Land of Fibromyalgia to the World of Normals
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia (FMS) after months, years or even decades of mysterious physical and emotional problems. Because you didn't know how sick I was, you may have thought of me as lazy, a malingerer, or simply ridiculous. If you have the time to read on, I would like to help you understand how different I am from you.

The Doctor who diagnosed me had Fibro. I had been poked on all over and had batteries of tests. This Doctor just grabbed me by the elbow while talking to me and I nearly went through the roof. He said, "Well you've got it."
It seems to me that the Doctors or at least the best ones for Fibro are the ones who have Fibro themselves.
I once read that men with Fibro inherited the tendency. I think it comes from the mother's side of the family.
There are many books on the…

I was born with cerebral palsy. I have had several operations over the years to keep my condition from getting worse. My last operation in 1996 went very badly and left me with severe chronic pain. My experience with chronic pain was like having a second disability. I had accepted and learn to live with having cerebral palsy and being in a wheelchair to the point where I was thankful for what my disability had given me in terms of a caring personality. I was very confident because I understood h…

Busy afternoon. Bhavana has been off since about mid November. She has been in more pain than usual. The pain had gotten so bad that she was throwing up. Today we got her an appointment with her holistic doctor,
Wendy King, PhD, APN, in her Somerset, NJ office. We were there for almost two hours but Dr. King believes that a few shot that Bhavana had at the beginning of November, plus the change in weather ( where knew that barometric pressure could affect health…

When you have a condition that involves pain doctors will often ask
you to rate your pain on a scale from one to 10. Especially when I first developed my pain I found this question to be exasperating. I just
knew I was in a lot of pain I had no concept of how to quantify it.
it was just as frustrating when the doctors ask me to describe my pain
they asked me if the pain felt like burning, tangling aching sharp etc... I had a very clear burning sensation in my feet but other then that I had a ver…

Bhavana has been wracked by major pain for the last few days. Last night she woke me in tears and all I could do was gently take her hand and wait. I don't know what to do. I feel completely useless. Today I offered to drive her to her physical therapy session but she refused and canceled. She thinks the increased pain is due to her menses. She recently changed birth control pills because the previous one had side effects.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and my wife and my family were over at my home. As usual we had too much food and too much work. Bhavana (my wife), over did it with cleaning and helping my mom create meal items for my side of the family ( I am from the West Indies and Bhavana is from India ).
Today she is in bed, racked with pain ( and probably some regret ). She got up just a few minutes ago and stumbled over to the door and called to me. She needed her pain medication. She popped a handful of pills…
